Danielle + Richard | A Story of Love, Hope, and Family | Portland, ME Wedding Film

It was just 6 weeks ago when we first received a message in our inbox on Instagram from one of our favorite New England wedding photographers, Amanda Fogarty. She described a situation to us of some of her best friends + a wedding celebration that was being planned for them two weeks out from that very day.

Amanda explained Danielle + Richard's 17 year relationship to us...their love for one another...their three little boys...+ the challenges they have been faced with in the past year since Richard's stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis last September. She ended her message by asking us if we would be interested in traveling, on such short notice, all the way to Maine to film their wedding day in just a few, short weeks.

From the second we received + began reading Amanda's message, we knew + felt deep in our hearts that we were being called to film their story. We knew we were going to "make it work" no matter what we needed to do...we moved + shifted things around in our schedule (true story: we were actually in the middle of a super unexpected move + shifted up our move in date to be able to make it all happen.) We believed in our hearts that our paths had crossed with theirs for a specific reason + that this thing was meant to happen. One way or another....so we got to work + we made it happen. We are huge believers that the Lord works things out for the good, always, and we can't help but see His hand in every piece of this story.

Just a few, short days after receiving Amanda's first message, we received our first email from our lovely bride to-be, Danielle, who was super genuine, warm, thankful, + a total inspiration to us from the very start. A few days receiving that email, we had the pleasure of speaking to her on the phone for the very first time. For TWO hours. TWO. HOURS. Needless to say, we felt instantly connected to Danielle + her beautiful 17 year old love story with Richard from the very start.

Over those two hours, Danielle allowed us a peak into her beautiful heart. We listened to her countless stories about their love, their dreams, their tribe, their plans, their adventures, their cancer fight, their boys, + their desire to finally make their commitment to one another 'official' through marriage. Several times we were moved to tears just in listening to the words that she spoke straight from her heart. Danielle is one of those rare souls that spills out light, grace, + hope in every word she speaks. Is it possible to fall in love with people you've never met before? Yes, yes, it certainly is + we certainly did.

Those two weeks of prepping for their celebration of life + love absolutely flew by + before we knew it we were standing in Danielle + Richard's beautifully designed + decorated home in snowy Maine . It almost felt like an out of body experience for us as we helped capture the most beautiful bride we've ever witnessed, the most inspiring groom we've ever met, + all of their dreams finally coming true right before their very eyes.

We were moved the entire day...constantly inspired by the genuine love we were witnessing in every fraction of their day. We paused as Danielle stood on the rocky coast, gazing out into the ocean waters, faced with the unknowns of their future. So much symbolism there, you all. 😭🖤 She looked so beautiful, so content, + so peaceful in that moment as she looked out into the unknown. We witnessed the most genuine love in Richard's eyes as he caught a glimpse of Danielle waiting for him out on the rocks at Kettle Cove. We got teary eyed as their boys pulled up to their first look + finally learned the secret that everyone had been keeping from them: their parents were finally getting married!!! And then we sobbed even harder when Richard stood before his boys + asked them to be his best men. We listened to words + promises that were spoken with such sincerity + bravery by their loved ones. We watched two families + HOARDS of loved ones celebrate the life + love that has been fought for + cherished between Danielle, Richard, + their three beautiful boys. It was truly a CELEBRATION + we hope everyone in that room could feel the immense amount of joy we were seeing through our lenses 🖤

This job is one of our biggest blessings in this life, this we don't doubt for a second. Not only do we get to listen to + help tell some of the most beautiful, powerful, + meaningful stories on a daily basis...but we get to meet the HEARTS behind these stories. We get to know + be friends with the huge, compassionate, fearless, kick ass beating hearts that love without hesitation or fear. When you leave a "job" having gained a deeper passion for what you do, a greater love for your craft, the sweetest new friendships, + a genuine hope for humanity...you know you've found your calling.

Here's to Danielle + Richard. And here's to their days ahead. May they be filled with zero pain, endless joy, sweet adventure, + a love that knows no fear. Cheers + #WilliamsStrong! 🖤

Michelle & Kyle | Smoky Mountains Wedding Film

Being hired by two friends to film their wedding is nerve wracking.
Being hired by two friends who are ALSO wedding filmmakers is another level of nerve wracking!

When we first started talking with Michelle and Kyle about their wedding film a year ago...they only requested one single thing from us. Throughout everything they were so laid back, super encouraging, and the best cheerleaders we could have ever asked for. The only thing they asked of us is that we allowed their film to tell the story of one thing - and that's the power of Jesus.

Honestly, this was not even a challenge for us because, truly, if you even spend a couple of seconds with this couple you are guaranteed to see the light & love of Christ spilling out of them. We might have been able to accomplish this through storytelling - but, ultimately, these two are living, breathing proof of the way that Jesus changes you and fills you with immeasurable JOY when you allow Him to be the center of your lives and relationships. It was a total honor to witness and we felt blessed just witnessing the celebration!

Michelle and Kyle, we adore you and think the world of you. You two are kingdom changers and we cannot even wait to see how your marriage continues to change all of the people who surround you! With all of our hearts, we wish you the absolute best on this adventure! ❤

Vanessa & Philip | Chicago Wedding Film

"Love is the most powerful force in the world. You can't even see it, and yet it can change you in a single instant and give you more joy in a single moment, than any material possession could ever hope to accomplish over multiple lifetimes" <3

We had so much fun traveling to Chicago to spend such an amazing day with Vanessa and Philip. These two are an absolute power couple. As you can hear through so many of the heartfelt speeches, their success and drive in their careers is only eclipsed by their love for people and each other. The joy that we saw each of them bring to their families was an honor to witness.

In addition to the beautiful wedding of these two, it was exciting to get to see the wedding traditions of Vanessa's family that we had never experienced before. Between their mariachi band and the "el muertito, vibora de la mar" - their reception was filled with beautiful traditions/customs, endless fun, and so much laughter!

There were countless times throughout the evening where we found ourselves standing back and taking in these two incredible families and hundreds of their friends having the time of their lives as they celebrated two such incredible, kind-hearted people and the love they have found in one another! It was a true honor that we were able to help capture that.

Vanessa and Phil, congratulations, and we can't wait to see where life takes you all!

Heather & Patrick | Kentucky Horse Farm Wedding

"I couldn't be any happier than I am right now, and that had everything to do with you being in my life. The best part of all of this? We're just getting started."

When a love story has been written for the past decade, you know you're in for a day of genuine love, laughter, tears, stories, joy, & celebration. You could not only see, but more than that, you could FEEL the love that was surrounding them as they their families & danced the night away with their friends who traveled from all over to spend their big day with them. The vows that Heather & Patrick shared with one another were straight from the heart. I don't think there was a dry eye on the front lawn of the beautiful home where Heather grew up. What a treasure to be married to your best friend in a setting that means SO MUCH to you. ❤️ And to top it off, Kentucky showed up & showed off at the end of the night with the most glorious golden sunset we have seen. We were so thrilled that the golden hour was so perfectly positioned on the beautiful farm on Heather's childhood home. Smack dab between the wooden fences, the stunning horses, & a bright golden sun...Heather & Patrick just held one another close & took it all nix It's true what they say, the sun shines bright on my old Kentucky home.

Please feel free to share the love for them by sharing their film. Cheers to Heather & Patrick!

Chelsea + Mike | Engaged

Haney's Appledale Farm - Somerset, Kentucky

Mike, one of Tyler's oldest & most cherished friends, found the love of his life in Chelsea.  These two compliment each other so, so well. Easy going & down-to-earth...they're our kind of people. When they asked us to take their engagement pictures we pretty much LEAPED out of our seats at the opportunity!

When you combine sipping on apple cider slushies in a gorgeous orchard & hiking one of the trails that you frequent often with your better half & your cute pups...you know you're in for one heck of a day!

We adore these two SO much & are counting down the days until they say I do next October in the beautiful city of Asheville, North Carolina! We feel so honored that they have chosen us to document their day...and we feel even more honored to call them friends.

Amy + Bo | Jo Ley Antiques Outdoor Wedding | Louisville, Kentucky

Married in the courtyard of one of NULU's quirkiest antique stores, Amy & Bo were such a dream couple to us in every way! <3

The smiliest bride we've ever worked with, the most dapper of grooms, a live bluegrass band playing tunes throughout the night, handmade cookies featuring their adorable fur-babies, wood fired pizza from a food truck, a photo booth in a funky van, and an abundance of laughter! This pretty much sums up one of the sweetest wedding days we've ever gotten to be a part of.

Couples like Amy & Bo truly give us so much more love & appreciation for what we do. Telling their story was a blast from start to finish! We hope you fall in love with them just like we have & please feel free to share the love for them by sharing their wedding film! ENJOY :)

Shilpa & Spencer | Seelbach Ballroom Wedding | Louisville, Ky

Oh goodness, where do we even begin?
Shilpa & Spencer were married this past April in Louisville, Kentucky at the immaculate Seelbach Hotel, which is located downtown in the heartbeat of the city.

It also just so happened to be Thunder weekend in Louisville (a weekend dedicated to celebrating the start of Derby season!)...and to be as cliche and cheesy as possible...sparks were definitely flying that day! 🤗💥🎉

A day filled with tradition, elegance, poise, & celebration! We felt so honored to be there working alongside our favorite husband and wife photography team, Lang & Kate, of Lang Thomas Photography.

We cannot brag on their wedding team enough, so we just want to take a second to give some major MAJOR love & praise to the team of vendors who worked super hard behind the scenes to make Shilpa & Spencer's day as magical & special as it was for them! 🎉✨🙌🏻

Their wedding planner extraordinaire, @shafoxweddings, killed it from start to finish! From booking to clean up! We were so honored to work with her entire  team! She constantly kept us in the loop & she was on her A game at all times...definitely someone you want in your corner on such a special day! 📋

Their amazing photographers,@langthomas & @kate_leichhardt, as always, we had a blast working with these two! This husband & wife team is easily one of our very very FAVORITES to work with. They're kind, efficient, fun, personable, easy to mesh with...they're rock stars, enough said. 📷

@anacrane & her fabulous team seriously glammed up this group of girls! Our bride, Shilpa, is so naturally stunning & Ana just added to her beauty! 👰🏻💄

@inbloomagain did an amazing job with styling all of the florals - we were in awe of all of the details! Truly timeless. 💐🌿

Their live band, @1stgenband, had everyone on their toes dancing all night! We had a blast working around these talented & fun musicians! 🎷🎶

provided some of their stunning gold chivari chairs for guests to relax in! ✨#MertsCakes created a beautiful, classic (and might we add DELICIOUS) wedding cake for guests to enjoy! 🎂 And, of course, the team at@theseelbach were so wonderful & accommodating! 🏙

These are so so so many more, we could go on & on for hours! We can't wait to blog this wedding soon & gush on this dream team some more!

It was a perfect day for a deserving couple!

It's Derby Weekend in the Bluegrass!

It is the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, and being based out of Kentucky, that is a big deal around here!  It has turned out to be a beautiful weekend for it, and we are already loving seeing all the mint juleps, bow ties, and colorful hats all over the place.  Since we are spending the weekend off from weddings, and at home editing/playing with our new pup Nola, we thought we would share an awesome moment from one of our favorite weddings last year.  This is a quick video of Steve Buttleman playing The Call to the Post, and My Old Kentucky Home at Jennifer and Jason's wedding in Louisville last October.  Steve is the official Bugler for the Churchill Downs, and has gotten to play The Call to the Post for the Kentucky Derby for over two decades, so be sure to watch on TV this weekend and you are sure to see him!

The Rodgers | 9.19.15 | A Colorful Greenhouse Wedding

Katy + Sean - Frankfort, Kentucky

Wilson Nurseries

What happens when your couple gets married in the middle of fall in a gorgeous green house?

Magic, that's what. Pure, glorious magic.ʉϬ

One of the most colorful weddings this year was that of Katy & Sean.

Just down the road in the charming city of Frankfort, Katy & Sean were married among the beautiful greenery & their loved ones at Wilson's Nurseries.

We had a sweet rainfall in the early morning hours, but the amazing team at Wilson's busted out all of the STUNNING decorations set up at their lovely venue in less than an hour flat between the scattered rain showers. We were truly impressed with this team & their attentiveness all day!

With potted succulents as "thank you's" for their family & friends, a teary-eyed dad walking his little girl down the aisle, a fist-pumping groom walking out of the ceremony with his gorgeous bride, twinkly lights everywhere, & our first Chinese lantern send off...we truly had our work cut out for us due to the fact we snagged SO MUCH amazing footage for these two darling people!

These two just have "it"...& we think that's abundantly clear.

We hope you enjoy their wedding film as much as we enjoyed getting to work on it! Feel free to spread the love for this couple by sharing their film!

Shout outs to their amazing team of selected vendors who we just ADORED getting to work alongside!

Elle + Kurt - Greensburg, Kentucky

The Barn at Cedar Grove

We are over the moon EXCITED to share with killer wedding film with you tonight!

Elle & Kurt traveled all the way from HAWAII (yes, HAWAII) to get married in one of our absolute favorite wedding venues of all time...the gorgeous & charming Barn at Cedar Grove.

We were so honored to get to know them as they planned their destination wedding to Kentucky & we were so excited about the phenomenal team of vendors they chose. Everyone was on their A game & worked their magic for these two special people!

Both their ceremony & reception were held at the barn...we were given a blue sky, big, white puffy cloud kind of day...everyone was excited...everything looked gorgeous (especially our bride, Elle!), & even the family dog, Olly, got to join in on the celebration!

Line dancing, hints of Hawaii, an outdoor ceremony, the sweetest grooms reaction, beautiful wedding vows, gorgeous decorations, walking hand & hand through corn fields, & an endless amount of JOY & LOVE are just a few of our favorite things that made up this incredible day!

Elle & Kurt are going places & we cannot wait to see where this adventure takes them.

The Rouses | 9.6.15 | A Wedding at Spindletop

Brittany + Felix - Lexington, Kentucky

The Club at Spindletop Hall

"I will dream with you, celebrate with you, & walk beside you through whatever our lives may bring. You are my light, my love, & my life." Shew, 4:49 has us weeping, you guys!

We are so thrilled to share this timeless love story with you all today.

Brittany & Felix are about as classy, family-oriented, & genuine as they come. They were so fun to get to know over our Starbucks dates & equally as fun to spend their big day with!

Their entire wedding day was centered around one VERY important thing: family.
They even had the pleasure of sharing their special day with their two very beautiful & very excited children, Zander & McKenna.

Their son, Zander, walked his momma down the aisle (to the Star Wars theme song, we feel the need to add!), Felix shared a first dance with their daughter, McKenna, to "Isn't She Lovely?," Zander got to stand as one of Felix's groomsmen, McKenna got to be a princess...errr, flower girl, we meant flower girl wink emoticon, as she scattered flower petals down the aisle that her beautiful momma would soon be walking down, & Felix shared sweet gifts with them as he vowed to love them just as he loves their momma.

The Spindletop Hall was the perfect setting for this sweet family's dreams to finally come true.

We felt so incredibly honored to share this day with these two precious human beings & we were absolutely thrilled with the amazing team of people who helped make their dream come to life!

Please feel free to show your support for this amazing couple by sharing their wedding film! In fact, sharing is strongly encouraged! heart emoticon wink emoticon

The Gardners | 8.29.15 | A #GardnerPizzaParty Wedding

Katie + Sam - Indianapolis, Indiana

Indianapolis Marriott North

There are so many things we could say, but words can't even begin to explain the huge amounts of LOVE we have for Katie & Sam. Like, we are pretty convinced that these two are our long-lost soulmates from Indiana.

From day one, these two opened their arms to us...completely. Each time we got to speak or skype with them...their excitement & kindness & undeniable love for one another just made us love them EVEN MORE.

There were so many times on their wedding day that we had to remind ourselves that we were there to WORK because we were having THAT much fun with them, their families, and their bridal parties...who truly made us feel more like friends and less like wedding vendors.

Their wedding day...as you will see...was just about as FUN as it can get. There was constant laughter, dancing - I mean, if every bridal party was as happy & celebratory as this one...we would be the happiest of campers grin emoticon- air guitar playing, the most beautiful decorations, the sweetest ceremony, and...compliments of the groom...PIZZA.

Their big day was definitely one huge pizza party filled with the happiest smiles & tears, belly laughter, dancing, & just endless amounts of joy as everyone celebrated a love for the ages!

We hope you love the ‪#‎gardnerpizzaparty‬ as much as we do! Feel free to spread the love for them by sharing this video!

A HUGE shout out to Gail Werner Photography for being FABULOUS to work alongside! We enjoyed the day even more because of her kind, creative, & fun personality!

The Vanovers | 8.8.15 | A Beautiful Wedding at Pinecroft Estate

Sarah + Derek - Cincinnati, Ohio

Pinecroft at Crosley Estate

On a beautiful, August day we traveled North to one of our FAVORITE cities - Cincinnati, Ohio - to spend our day celebrating with the royal couple.

Wait...Kate who? William who? You must have us mistaken, because we're OBVIOUSLY talking about the soon-to-be Sarah & Derek Vanover, of course!

We arrived at the Pinecroft mansion that afternoon to find our lovely bride, Sarah, upstairs in the mansion getting her hair & make-up extra beautified (because, let's face it, she's truly stunning with zero make up & her hair in a pony-tail!) by the talented ladies of Green Line Salon & Bride Face. Her mom & bridesmaids were there right by her side, laughing, enjoying some cocktails, and wonderful conversation. It was a gorgeous day to begin a marriage.

Let's gush for a few seconds about these two, shall we?! We just adore Sarah & Derek & their fairy-tale of a love story. These two actually met & fell in love while they were both attending the University of Kentucky (GO CATS!) They were even introduced to one another through a mutual friend at school & the rest is history. I'm sure that friends feels pretty great about themselves knowing that they played a small part in such an immaculate love story.

We enjoyed getting to know these two as we talked with them about their wedding day! They carefully chose THE most fabulous team to transform the gorgeous estate into their fairy tale wedding setting. It was a dream come true.

Sarah & Derek shared in a sweet first look in the courtyard of the mansion & Derek's reaction truly takes the words right out of our mouths.

Sarah was stunning, Derek was smitten. The smiles were big. The hugs were long. We love these sweet moments on a wedding day.

Soon after, it was time for their ceremony to begin! One by one, guests began trickling in & finding a place to sit. Sarah & Derek said their "I do's" in the beautiful orchard in front of their nearest & dearest. There were laughs, tears, & beautiful music from the string quartet.

Before their reception began, guests were able to mingle in the courtyard while sipping on drinks & this gave Sarah & Derek a few minutes to sneak away & take in the beautiful sunset that God provided them with that evening from the balcony of the mansion.

Their reception took place in a tent just outside the mansion that was beautifully decorated from top to bottom. Tables were adorned with beautiful flower & arrangements & place settings. And don't even get us started on THAT CAKE. Stunner.

Guests got to listen to their sweet friends & family deliver heart-felt speeches about the incredible people that they are. Their kind words spoke volumes about Sarah & Derek! Made us just love them even more!

Their reception was a BLAST. From the wonderful music performed by the live band, The Chuck Taylors, to all of the gorgeous florals created by Holly Posy Floral Designs, the fun photo-booth provided by Tap Snap, the glow stick dance party, & the glow-stick send off!

We would even venture to say that they lived happily ever after.

Sarah & Derek, we wish you only the very best as you begin this new adventure! Thank you for choosing us to tell the story of your day...the story of you.

We pray this film will serve as a reminder to you for years to come that love is an adventure.

The Shapiros | 7.18.15 | A Glitz & Hot Pink Fasig Tipton Wedding

Mara + Alex - Lexington, Kentucky

Fasig Tipton

"I believe God makes one special person out there just for you. Your perfect match & your soulmate. I feel so blessed & thankful to have found mine in you."

If you were in Lexington, Kentucky on July 18th this summer...I think we can all agree on one thing...it was a HOT day with a heat index of 103. And if you happened to be at Fasig-Tipton on that same day this summer...I think we can all agree on another thing...it was the BEST day, EVER.

Mara + Alex were, yes, married on what seemed to be the hottest day of the year...but the heat did not take anything away from their wedding day.

Their day was filled with such sentimental moments and special details...it was so easy to forget there was sweat dripping from your brow because watching Mara & Alex promise their vows to one another was the ONLY thing on anyone's minds.

We were super lucky to have booked with Mara after meeting her & Alex (and family!!!) at the Diamond Rings & Pretty Things bridal show we participated in two summers ago. They were actually our ONLY couple to book us THAT SAME DAY.

Did we love them from the very start? Yes, my friends, we did.

We had a blast plotting & planning with their fabulous wedding planner, Jackie Lee of Every Last Detail, over the course of the months leading up to their wedding day. We also were eagerly anticipating getting to work with our girl, Amy Wallen Reed of Amy Wallen Photography, who they ALSO booked after meeting her at the very same bridal show! SO FUN!

Their big day finally arrived and we were greeted with open arms (and HUGS, our FAVORITE!) as we arrived to Fasig-Tipton that day.

We found Mara and her best ladies getting all prettied up by Sara Drury and her fabulous team. Alex, on the other hand, was having a blast just hanging out & throwing back some beers (what guys do best, right?!) with his groomsmen until Mara gave him the BEST SURPRISE EVER.

Each bridesmaid, one by one, was sent over to where the men were hanging out with gifts that Mara had carefully selected for Alex to enjoy on their wedding day. A few of those being a beer tower, chicken from Canes, some new swimming trunks and water shoes for him to put to good use on their honeymoon, socks in case of "cold feet," and what we think was probably Alex's favorite surprise...(well, based on his reaction)...a Derek Jeter jersey!

Mara did a fabulous job planning such a fun surprise for her groom! We were so excited to capture the look on his face each time a bridesmaid stepped off the elevator with a different gift!

A few hours rolled by, a sweet, tear-filled first look with Mara's dad took place, some pictures were taken, and before we knew it was finally time for Mara to walk down the aisle to, an ear-to-ear grinning, Alex!

Their ceremony was so precious...their vows were so thought-out, so personal, and so very "them." We love how they even knew when to finish one another's sentences.

They truly do make the perfect team.

Alex's dad spoke for a few seconds in closing of their ceremony and they tied in the Jewish custom of "breaking the glass." Everyone yelled "mazeltov!" together in unison as Alex & Mara were finally announced as the new Mr. and Mrs. Shapiro!

Guests were then invited to enjoy a cocktail hour beneath the pavilion at Fasig-Tipton before heading into the reception. The rest of the night was devoted to partying it up!

A beautiful (and delicious) cake made by the fabulous team at Martine's Pastries was devoured, some fun photos were taken at the Clear Choice Photo Booth, lots of dancing happened thanks to Tony with Tiger's DJ Services, and the night came to a close with a sparkler tunnel exit!

A huge thank you goes out to the amazing Jackie Lee of Every Last Detail for being one of the most on-point, hard working, and hospitable wedding planners. Her business name says it all...she pays careful attention to EVERY. LAST. DETAIL. and this is why our weddings with her are some of our very favorites!

Mara & Alex, we wish you only the very best as you begin this new adventure! Thank you for choosing us to tell the story of your day...the story of you.

We pray this film will serve as a reminder to you for years to come that love is an adventure.
