The Maines | 4.25.15 | Sweet Rainy Wedding Day

Karly + Justin - Ft. Thomas, Kentucky

The Fort Thomas Community Center, The Mess Hall

"This 16 year old chase has been worth every single day & I wouldn't change it for the life of me."

A few weeks back, on a rainy day in April, Karly & Justin were getting ready to see one another for the very first time on their wedding day. A 16 year old journey of falling in love with one another & it was FINALLY their big day.
The day they would become husband & wife...Mr. & Mrs. Maines.

We arrived that day to Karly's parents home where she, her bridesmaids, & mom were all getting their hair & make up done by the talented crew from Simply Blue Salon & Glossa Professional Makeup Artistry.

We arrived with plenty of time to grab shots of the gorgeous bride-to-be getting final touches to her hair & make up. We were also able to grab shots of all of her wedding day essentials. A bridesmaid actually shared with us that the handbag that Karly would be carrying with her that day (and can be seen in the film) was made out of pieces of fabric from her mom's wedding dress. We are all about the sweet, sentimental kind of stuff; Karly's mom actually went and found a picture from her wedding day showing off her gorgeous bridal gown that would now hold a very special place in her daughter's wedding day.

After Karly's mom & sister helped her into her dress, Karly shared a sweet first look with her bridesmaids who were all cheering as she walked out showing off her gorgeous bridal gown. Squeals. Tears. Lots of giggling.
I think we even recall a bridesmaids exclaiming "Justin is going to DIE when he sees you!"

Meanwhile, Justin & his best men were getting ready just minutes away at a gorgeous, immaculate home of a family friend.
When we arrived to the location we immediately began scouting with their photographer, Samantha, & preparing for Karly & Justin's first look. Simultaneously, we were also able to grab a few shots of the dudes hanging out, shooting some pool, & having a good time as they waited for the ladies to arrive!

I don't think we have ever seen a more eager, anxious, or EXCITED groom.

We have to say...we were constantly moved throughout their wedding day by the love that Justin showed for his bride. Yes, all grooms are OBVIOUSLY madly in love with their brides...but it was just so evident that Karly makes Justin's world go round.

You could see it in his eyes.
In the way he looked at Karly.
In his happy tears.
In the words he spoke of & about her.
In the adorable bear hugs he would give her.
It was touching. SO SWEET.

Their first look was a treasure for us to capture.
All the emotion. And tears. And hugs. And smiles. And even more hugs!
We could go on & on about their first look & how sweet it was to capture.

From here, the bridal party hopped on their bus & we set out, alongside Samantha's Studio Photography team, for some fun bridal party shots by the Ohio River!

To our surprise (and delight) the rain stopped, the clouds opened up, & the sun peeked through just long enough to allow us enough time to grab some some outdoor shots!
Umbrellas are super fun & all...but we are always thankful for some sun!

Karly & Justin (as well as all of their best ladies & gents) were a dream to work with.

The love between them was so natural, fun, & infectious to be around...& just as easy to capture.

Their Catholic ceremony was held at The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in downtown Ft. Thomas, Ky. Friends & family began trickling in one by one that evening into the beautiful cathedral; everyone was so eager to see Karly & Justin finally become husband & wife! It was a gorgeous ceremony.
The priest said it best when he stated:

"Love and beauty are all around us. The love and beauty of this couple. The love and beauty of our Lord. And the love and beauty of this cathedral."

Family, friends, & guests were all invited to celebrate with them at The Fort Thomas Community Center, following the ceremony. They were greeted with a delicious buffet of food prepared by Lother's Catering, as well as an assortment of drinks. Their live band, Gino and The Tight Noise, performed music throughout the evening & allowed everyone to have some fun on the dance floor! There's just something about a live band at a wedding. We love the excitement it brings to the wedding atmosphere!

The rest of the night was every bit of amazing. Heartfelt, hilarious speeches, wonderful food, delicious wedding cake, the BEST dance offs, & endless JOY & LAUGHTER.

Karly & Justin, just being around the two of you was enough to know that your marriage will be one filled with loads of fun & adventure.

Thank you for allowing to us to a small part of such a BIG day!

We wish you the very, very best,

Allison & Tyler
