Katie + Dan - Louisville, Kentucky
Louisville Executive Aviation
"It is today that I feel like I am the luckiest man because I get to embark on life's greatest adventure with you."
The love story of Katie & Dan is one that screenwriters base movies on.
It's what authors only wish they could write about.
It's what hopeless romantics long for.
It's what storytellers (like us) LIVE FOR!
Katie + Dan are both from Chicago, Illinois...but their paths were never crossed until they were both visiting New York City on separate trips.
Katie was wearing a Chicago shirt that day, while Dan was wearing a Chicago Cubs hat. Some might call that luck; others choose to call it fate.
It was as though these two were placed in that moment in time for a specific reason.
They hit it off with one another from the very start and Dan even decided to move back his flight - which was scheduled for the next day - in order to have some extra time in New York City to spend with Katie.
After a day of exploring the Big Apple together, enjoying all of the sights, conversations, cuisine, and a few drinks...the next day, they both were scheduled to return to their homes in Chicago on two separate flights, leaving at different times.
When Katie's flight arrived back at the airport in Chicago...she was surprised to find Dan.
He had waited for her.
Katie and Dan took a cab back to the city together that day and never looked back. These two have spent their days falling in love with one another ever since and much of their relationship has been centered on traveling the world together.
It was while they were exploring in Ireland that Dan got down on one knee as they were watching the sun set and asked Katie to be his forever.
With their love for travel and all things adventurous, Katie and Dan knew it was ONLY FITTING that they have a destination wedding.
But, the question was...where to!?
They came up with the idea to celebrate their love in an airplane hangar and the search for the perfect venue began! They eventually mutually agreed upon Louisville Executive Aviation in Louisville, Kentucky as their destination. This fun city is actually one of the first places that they ever traveled to together...and with a mutual love for bourbon...how could they not be sold!?
Their wedding day began in the beautiful presidential suite inside of the Seelbach Hotel, where we found Katie, her bridesmaids, and her mom all getting their hair and make-up done.
With the help of her fabulous hair/make up teams, her bridesmaids, and her mom - Katie was officially ready to see her groom-to-be for the very first time on their wedding day!
Katie and Dan chose to share a sweet first look inside the Seelbach Hotel. Dan walked out of the elevator and made his way over to his lovely bride to be...who was waiting for her groom-to-be and beaming from ear to ear!
They soaked in their moment together, took a few photos, and we, then, gathered up their bridal party, hopped on a trolley, and began to venture all around downtown Louisville with the creative Kriech-Higdon photo team! We cannot brag on Jessie & Chris enough! Not only is their photography impeccable, but they were so prepared/efficient and carefully planned out multiple locations for bridal party pictures before the ceremony was set to begin!
Katie and Dan's ceremony took place at the stunning Louisville Palace. Dan's uncle, Louis Zahorak, officiated their wedding and did an absolutely wonderful job. Katie and Dan's vows were heartfelt, personal, and perfectly "them." We loved that they gave each other a chest bump after their first kiss as husband and wife! Seriously, how fun can two people get!?
Their reception was held at Louisville Executive Aviation in the old airport hangar. When guests arrived, they were able to find the table they were assigned to by looking for their name and designated country on a beautiful map. Each table was designated with one of the countries/places that Katie & Dan traveled together. New York City was given to the bride and groom's table...we thought that was just the sweetest touch!
Guests were gifted with golden airplane-shaped bottle openers that read: "let the adventure begin" as thank you favors from the bride and groom. There were also post-cards for their family and friends to fill out with words of advice and date ideas!
The rest of the evening was a huge celebration! A beautifully crafted sit-down dinner was provided by Volare Restaurant. A bourbon bar was available and open for guests! A selection of cannolis from Italy, bourbon balls from Kentucky, and good ole' fashioned American doughnuts from Nord's Bakery were also provided for guests to enjoy!
Entertainment Essential DJ's were there providing tunes to get absolutely everyone on the dance floor! Lil Cheezers food truck showed up later into the night and provided specialty grilled cheeses for guests who worked up an appetite while dancing their hearts out on the dance floor! Photo-booth fun was provided by Showtime photo-booth.
This wedding was filled with the most personal details everywhere you turned. A huge (HUGE) shout out to Celia Ann Events for being incredible to work with and for her expertise of coordinating their big day! Everything was perfect and ran seamlessly thanks to her!
We wish these soul-mates a lifetime of adventure & pray this film can help them relive their fun-filled wedding day for years to come!
Thank you for letting us be a small part of your big day, Katie + Dan!
