Regan + Mike - Frankfort, Ky

Frankfort Historical Society

"Thank you for being the best friend I've ever had. You really are my superman."

It was a little over a year ago when we first talked to Regan about filming her wedding!

We are convinced that God really leads the perfect couples to us and He does so in the coolest ways. For this wedding, we had a connection through Allison's aunt, Cheryl, who lives in Frankfort, Ky. Over the years she has been sweet enough to spread the news about our business with those she knows who have gotten engaged!

She just so happened to share our business information with Regan's family, told her how we film weddings, and thankfully, Regan got in contact with us almost immediately!

To our surprise, May 30th was one of our MOST requested dates of 2015...and we have no doubt in our mind that out of the almost 50+ people who contacted us asking us about this day that Regan + Mike were the ONLY match for us.

Thanks Aunt Cheryl, we owe ya big time for this one!

Regan + Mike are INCREDIBLE people individually and even better when you put them together.

We actually had the chance to meet them for the VERY first time at one of our July weddings last summer (you might remember Brette and Grant's gorgeous wedding at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Ky) We had no idea they would be at the wedding, but they surprised us by coming up to us and introducing themselves to us that day! We knew from that moment on that we couldn't wait for their big day to arrive!

We actually knew they were THE perfect match for us when Mike told us during one of our meetings to get ready for his moves on the dance floor. Challenge accepted, Mike.

The morning of May 30 we traveled just a few miles down the road to Frankfort, Kentucky.

It was a drizzly afternoon, but the rain eventually gave way to the sun peeking out from behind the clouds. Birds were chirping, a gentle breeze was blowing, the colors were vibrant thanks to the summer rain. It was a great day to begin a marriage!

We found Regan and her lovely bridesmaids on the second floor of the Glenn Willis House, which is a historically rich building located right along the Kentucky River. Regan's hair and make up teams did a fabulous job at prettying up this bride-to-be and each of her bridesmaids.

As soon as the final touches were made to Regan's bridal up-do, her bridesmaids and momma helped her slip into her stunning bridal gown. Her dress looked like it was made just for her. She looked like an absolute princess. Moments later, Regan's dad was finally welcomed into the room to see his little girl for the very first time.

We told Regan countless times throughout her wedding day - the bond she shares with her dad is so sweet, rare, and special. We felt the love between them through the first look that they shared and through his sweet speech he gave at their reception.  Lots of tears were shed on their day behind the camera...that's for sure!

After sharing a first look with her dad and her little brothers, Regan was lead downstairs and onto the porch of the Glenn Willis House where her groom-to-be was waiting to see her for the very first time. He was already grinning from ear to ear.

We love capturing the anticipation in the groom's face as he hears his bride sneaking up behind him. We equally love capturing the joy on the bride's face as she is walking towards him. The little moments leading up to the big reveal: the excitement, the laughs, the suspense, AND THEN, the bride sweetly taps her groom on the shoulder, he turns around, and they finally get to see one another. The admiration in their eyes, the way their faces light up, the sweet embraces, the twirling, the tears, the grins, the realization that today is the day they finally become husband and's all magic, really.

They shared a special few moments together on the porch...soaking in all of the love and excitement...and then, Jaron Johns of Dei Gratia Photography began doing his thing behind the camera!

Jaron is an incredible photographer. He's the easiest person in the world to work with and brings so much FUN to a wedding day atmosphere. He makes his clients feel comfortable behind the camera and he captures authentic moments as they happen. He was efficient and easygoing. Definitely someone you want to have with you on your wedding day, brides!

Following bridal party photos, it was finally time to head to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church where Regan and Mike promised their vows in front of their loved ones, their violinist and guitarist serenaded guests with their beautiful music, and their officiant gave everyone a great laugh right before Regan and Mike kissed for the first time as husband and wife! In case you might have missed it...he placed a stool under Regan's feet right before their first kiss.  Mike is kind of tall...just in case you might have missed that, as well. ;)

Following their ceremony, their guests were invited to the Frankfort Historical Society downtown for a small cocktail hour. Once Mr. and Mrs. Satterwhite were announced into the cocktail hour and made their way down the grand staircase, guests were able to enjoy a buffet-style dinner prepared by Terri's Catering and listen to some very sweet speeches. Everyone was able to dance along to the tunes provided by the DJ and devour some delicious bourbon and honey ice-cream on the patio thanks to Crank and Boom.

Their night is definitely one to remember. Their families were all on the dance floor! And, as you can see in the video, we definitely captured Mike and his awesome dance moves!

At the end of the night, their family and friends gathered together tunnel-style and sent them off with lots of cheering and lots of sparklers!

We wish you only the best as you begin this new chapter, Regan and Mike! Thank you for choosing us to tell the story of your day.

We pray this film serve as a reminder to you for years to come that love is an adventure.
